About the Plant
One of the most beautiful trees and shrubs of the tropical and semi-tropical zones, Plumeria is related to the Oleander. P. alba flowers are most fragrant at night to lure sphinx moths who are duped to inadvertently pollinate by transferring pollen from flower to flower fruitlessly searching for nectar, which the flower does not produce. This exquisite flower's native habitat is Mexico, Central America and Venezuela and has now spread to all tropical areas of the world, especially Hawaii, where it is so abundant that people think it is indigenous.Aromatherapy:
Perfumery The absolute has applications along side other heady florals like Jasmine, Tuberose, Neroli and Ylang Ylang. The name "Frangipanni" was given in its heyday in the 19th Century to a floral bouquet perfume used to scent leather gloves, a powdering process invented by Marquis Frangipanni.
